Inge Infante’s new sculptures are small, portable altars. She treated Altoid tins in the barbeque in order to eliminate the writing and paint. The firing created a wonderful, almost iridescent patina as background to the more or less thematic treatment. Out of a vast collection of materials, the individual pieces took shape, creating tension and puzzlement by juxtaposing unrelated objects. The viewer is invited on a “Gedankenspaziergang” (“thought walk”), which may lead to a view of the piece, entirely different from the title.
